For video editors, the "replace" and "insert" clip functions in the timeline are essential. These features allow you to easily swap out existing footage with new clips without disrupting the overall sequence. This is crucial for fine-tuning a project without starting from scratch, whether you're replacing problematic clips, adding fresh elements, or adjusting the order of scenes.
Great news: The recent update for Nero Video now supports both the "replace" and "insert" clip functions in the timeline.
Let’s walk through it step by step!
To begin, Open Nero Video, locate the home page, and go to the video editing interface.

Click "Import File" to add the videos, images and audio you want to replace.

Press "Ctrl" on the keyboard, drag the video to replace the selected video, and the video retains the previous effect.

Now the video "2024" is on the timeline.

Press the "Ctrl" key on the keyboard, and drag a picture to replace the selected picture. This keeps the previous clip length and effect.

Press "Alt" on the keyboard, drag a video to replace the picture on the timeline, and this video will replace clips of its length. The previous effect is not kept.

Press "Shift" on the keyboard, drag a video to the timeline, and the original clips will move backward.

Press and hold the "Ctrl" key on the keyboard, drag the new music to replace the original music, and it keeps the previous music's length and effect.
It's really a handy tool for all Nero Video users to get a quick video edit and to replace photos, videos, and music more easily.
